Mission and Goals
The mission of Washington University Libraries is to support learning, teaching, research and creative expression at the University by providing timely and effective access to information for the broad University Community.
In line with this mission, it is the responsibility of the Preservation Program to facilitate access to all materials by striving to meet the following goals:
- To make a positive impact on the whole collection.
- To identify needs, priorities and objectives of the preservation program.
- To record the extent of and solutions to preservation problems.
- To preserve the collection through treatment, education, and/or other means.
- To reduce loss to the collection through neglect or carelessness.
- To encourage respect for the library.
