Equipment, Computers, Wireless Access, Headphones
The Gaylord Library Reading Room
has five public computers which
provide access to the Library catalog, as well as access to
Internet and other resources. Three have scanners attached.
The library has one printer, which is networked so that jobs may be sent from any of the public computers,
or from patrons' laptops. Print access is managed through a campus-wide service which is only available to
students, faculty and staff. (See:
http://library.wustl.edu/about/techinfo/computing-printing.html)
However, scanned files can be emailed to oneself or saved to a
jump drive. The library also has one microfilm/fiche
reader. Headphones for general use within Gaylord
Library are available at the circulation desk.
Gaylord has a full range of audio and video playback equipement for most
formats collected. In addition, Olin Library's Arc (Library Technology Center) and
Arts & Sciences Computing's Humanities Digital Workshop have workstations for viewing
VHS or DVD materials.
WIRELESS NETWORK ACCESS is available in the reading room. Access to the wireless network requires using either a secure, encrypted connection (WUFI-S) or an unencrypted connection (WUFI). Instructions for obtaining the appropriate software and procedures for connecting to the wireless network can be found on the University Libraries computing and printing services page. The wireless network is available to students, faculty, staff, and long term visiting researchers of Washington University. (Check current status of wireless network access points in the Libraries).
