Reference assistance for this collection is available Monday- Friday,
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Location
Books and bound periodicals are arranged by Library of Congress
Classification System and shelved in Olin Library on Level A. Part
of the collection is classified by language. Current periodicals
are shelved in the Periodicals area on Level 1.

About the
Collection
The Islamic and Near Eastern Collection is the only specialized
collection for this subject in the state of Missouri. The Collection
serves the Washington University community as part of the Washington
University Libraries System while serving the information and research
needs of the
Asian and Near Eastern Languages and Literatures Department and the
Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Studies program. It is
also heavily used by the Muslim community in St. Louis.

Services Facilities
Access Circulation Policies
Patrons with a current Washington University I.D. may borrow materials
from the Islamic Studies Collections. These materials can be charged
out at the Circulation Desk, in the lobby of Level 1. Loan Periods:

Faculty -- 90 days

Graduate Student -- 60 days

Undergraduates -- 4 weeks

W.U. staff -- 4 weeks

Courtesy borrowers -- 3 weeks

Audio video materials of the collection are housed in the Audio Visual/Reserve Unit

Bound periodicals circulate to Washington University faculty and graduate
students for 5 days.
Books that have not been requested by another borrower may be renewed at
the Circulation desk on level 1, or using the library's Online Services
function to renew
books online. Telephone renewals are not accepted.
Borrowed materials may be recalled after two weeks. Fines for overdue books
are 20 cents per day, per item; fines for recalled overdue books are 40
cents per day, per item. Overdue periodicals will be fined $1.00 per day.
Reserves
Islamic and Near Eastern Studies Collection materials may be placed
on reserve by faculty
for coursework. These materials are kept at the Circulation/Reserve on
Level 1.
