MENALIB: Middle East Virtual Library
A collaborative venture of more than a half dozen
international libraries, MENALIB is coordinated by the University
and State Library Saxony-Anhalt, Halle in an attempt to combine
contributors' resources into a virtual library of materials on
the Middle East and North Africa. The library's primary goals
are to create a subject guide for electronic resources in the
areas of Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, a current contents
service for scholarly journals, a virtual catalog, and databases
for dissertations and conferences. The site currently contains
ALMISBAH, a searchable and browseable (by source type and
subject) database of Internet resources, and the classification
scheme of the special subject collection (in German and
English).
MENIC: Middle East Network Information Center
MENIC is an online guide to Middle East-related websites and databased that can
be accessed via the World Wide Web. It is created by a staff of editors who visit and evaluate web sites,
and then organize them into subject-based categories and sub-categories.
MEMRI: The Middle East Media Research Institute
MEMRI explores the Middle East through the region's media. MEMRI bridges the language
gap which exists between the West and the Middle East, providing timely translations
of Arabic, Persian, and Turkish media, as well as original analysis of political,
ideological, intellectual, social, cultural, and religious trends in the Middle East.
MESA
The Middle East Studies Association (MESA) is a non-political association that fosters the
study of the Middle East, promotes high standards of scholarship and teaching, and
encourages public understanding of the region and its peoples through programs, publications
and services that enhance education, further intellectual exchange, recognize professional
distinction, and defend academic freedom.
