Services for Visitors to Washington University Libraries
Visitors are welcome in the Washington University Libraries, although some libraries may not be open to the public in the late evening hours. Limited circulation privileges (that is, checking materials out of the Libraries) are extended to the following groups: students and faculty members at selected Mobius institutions, faculty members at participating HEC institutions, students and faculty from St. Louis area InfoPass libraries, and Century Club members. Mobius:
If you are a student at any university or college that participates in Mobius, you can check out books using your university ID. However, we recommend you request the item via the Mobius catalog and have it delivered to your 'home' library rather than coming to the WU Libraries in person to check out books. HEC:
If you are a faculty member at another college or university, you may request an HEC card from your institution's library, which allows checkout privileges at many local colleges and universities.
InfoPass:
If you are a student at a college or university in the St. Louis area, you may be able check out books from the Washington University Libraries with an InfoPass from your school's library, if it participates in the InfoPass program. Ask at your school library for a pass.
Century Club members:
WU alumni and residents of the St. Louis regional area who have need of checking out books from the Washington University Libraries are encouraged to join the Century Club. This costs $100 for one year, at the basic membership level. One of the privileges of this membership is the right to check out books from the WU Libraries. It does not, however, give you access to most databases and electronic journals in the Libraries website from off-campus. You are welcome to use most of the restricted databases and electronic journals while you are in any of the Libraries on the WU campuses.
